On the International Day of Parliamentarism, the first-ever celebration of the parliaments and parliamentarians role in today society (decided by United Nations to be observed on 30 June) H.E. Professor Dr. Anton Caragea President pro-Tempore of PARLIAMENTARIAN ASSEMBLY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS had presented the following message:
The International Day of Parliamentarism, a new United Nations day of observance, recognizes the lynch-pin role in today society and democracy played by the Parliaments.
Leading an organization destined to promote a better world, to build democracy and prosperity and to promote peace and dialogue I must emphasize the crucial role that responsible parliamentarian activity is playing in protecting nations, combating corruption, representing people and trying to advance their aspirations.

Parliaments can be the voice of nations and the main harbingers of democracy, defenders of human rights and dignity and can bridge local and global agendas.
Enacting laws and strategies, they can contribute significantly to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals — our only charted course towards a world dominated by peace, dialogue, cooperation and development.
This year 2018/2019 I want to emphasize the necessity for world parliaments to foster natural protection, to confront climate change, to protect life across our wonderful planet.
