The EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY is the perfect European knowledge center and aims “to debate and work on contemporary trends of tourism, economy and cooperation across disciplinary and national borders, for the good of those living and working in Europe”.

This has resulted in a networked ‘think tank’ on tourism and cultural values in a world that is increasingly fragmented.

The EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY focuses on three main areas of studies and research: developing world knowledge of tourism trends, disseminating tourism information and implementing major multi-national projects.

DEVELOPING WORLD KNOWLEDGE OF TOURISM.

Tourism development future-critical topics debated on EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY such as: cultural based tourism, environmental protection through technology and industry, economic globalization; boundaries of discovery tourism, safety in tourism industry are discussed at symposiums, congresses and on interdisciplinary, scientific working parties.

Ethical principles in tourism discussions are fundamental. Tourism topics are discussed and evaluated in the light of impacts on cultural, ethical and consensual values and developments.

Tourism and related research are viewed in today`s world inter-dependence on national authorities, economic constraints, sustainable development and humanitarian objectives. The influence of globalization and of worldwide information and communication technologies are also taken under scrutiny.

DISSEMINATING TOURISM INFORMATION`S.

Tourism information, tourism and cultural knowledge and evolution`s are core fundamental aspects that should be disseminated to a world-wide audience as possible, in different socio-political and ethical facets as possible.

EUROPEAN TOURISM ACADEMY`S instrumental activity is to ensure that everyone has access to travel related information.

For this aim we are creating a large number of regular publications, leaflets, journals, electronic media pages and new interactive and attractive communication systems are being used to disseminate tourism and travel related information.

IMPLEMENTING WORLD MAJOR PROJECTS

The first major project is “World Best Tourist Destination”. Based on this world level project we concentrate on optimal tourism opportunity, on discovering and promoting major tourism destination, in creating the tourism necessary infrastructure, supporting tourism based on the cultural, ecological, environmental and tourism facts and validated research findings.

This project will also focus on interdisciplinary discussion between industry and tourism factors, to disseminate theoretical tourism findings to industry, tourism technology to combine theory and practice.

The second major project concerns “World Capital of Culture and Tourism”. For the representatives of the European Tourism Academy culture is “a world necessity, as no man can live in freedom and dignity without the protection of his cultural values.”

The aim is to set up around the concept of “World Capital of Culture and Tourism “an institute that runs scientific symposiums, promotes and research and holds public debates on “World Capital of Culture”.
